The Division of Industrial Waste Water Management implements programs to prevent or clean up the pollution of surface and ground water in Massachusetts by industry. The division created permit files to authorize and control sewer extensions and connections by industrial users, and to insure proper operation of waste water treatment facilities and sewer systems. Permit files contain correspondence, plans, and permits. Permits include name and address; applicant and sewer system owner; type of project, number of residences and establishments to be served; design flow-gallons per day (sewage, industrial wastes); location, length, size and capacity of sewers to be connected; location, size and capacity of pumping stations to be connected; general description of sewers and pump stations; receiving wastewater treatment facilitty's average daily flow and design flow; pollutants in discharge; date issued and date effective.
